Sr. Simulation Specialist - Polymers Job
An exciting opportunity is available for Senior Simulation Specialist – Polymers, will reports directly to Manager, Technical Services
Job Purpose:
To undertake assignments involving a range of problem-solving techniques and computational methods i.e. process modelling, statistical data analysis, root cause analysis, and investigative analysis etc. to identify solutions related to identified production issues raised by TPC process engineering for investigation.
The role holder will endeavour to continually improve and build upon existing experience in applying said techniques through self-learning and formal training.
Work will be related but not limited to the monomer, polymer and chemical manufacturing processes and products of the TASNEE Petrochemical Complex for which the role holder will be expected to develop a good knowledge and understanding to facilitate work undertaken.
Generate technical reports in a timely fashion as per agreed timescales based on the type and complexity of the work required. This work may be as an individual assignment or as part of a multifunctional team.
All work will be initiated through Technical Service Requests from TASNEE internal customers or as assigned tasks defined by line management.

Qualification and Requirements:
- Minimum Qualification:
- MSc or Batchelor of Science Chemical Engineering (Preferably Masters) from accredited university
- Minimum Experience:
- Min. 5-7yrs of simulation experience in a Polymer Process environment (Monomer & Chemical Process environment are plus).
- Have a detailed, hands-on experience in simulations, process design– preferably in polymer, Petrochemicals industries.
- Have minimum 7 years of experience with process like high pressure tubular LDPE, CSTR slurry HDPE, PP plants.
- Hands-on expertise with process design simulators such as Aspen Plus, CFD, HYSYS, other relevant simulators for polymer process.
- Process modeling and simulation (both dynamic and steady state) to mimic plant process.
- Support Production Engineers with developing tools to monitor process performance and make improvement recommendations.
- Support plant Operations personnel in troubleshooting process issues and concerns.
- Develop and run process simulation software in support of daily plant operations, plant modifications and capital projects.
- Conduct weekly/monthly plant performance review of operating/Integrity envelope – report excursions.
- Responsible long-term performance monitoring/ reporting plant performance.
- Manage Process engineering aspect of asset integrity assurance.
- Identify & drive debottlenecking opportunities (includes Performance trials). Design and carry out tests in the interest of enhancing production or solving process problems.
Skills
- Business-level written and spoken English.
- Computer literacy and a good working knowledge of advanced professional programs e.g. Aspen Plus, CFD, Hysys computer mathematical modelling
