Advanced Smelting Industries Co. (ASIC) is a joint venture equally owned by Tasnee. The smelter is located in the Primary and Downstream Industries Zone of Jazan City for Primary and Downstream Industries (JCPDI), and is designed to smelt ilmenite, a titanium-rich mineral sand, into titanium dioxide slag and pig iron. The plant consists of two electric arc furnaces, each with an annual capacity of 250,000 Tennes of slag and 125,000 Tennes of pig iron. The slag is tapped from the furnace and further processed to serve as feedstock for the titanium chlorination and sulphuric used in the production of titanium pigment, which is primarily utilized in paints and plastics.

About the role:

 

Designs, develops, delivers and evaluates technical training material and programs in line with operational needs as well as regulatory and statutory requirements. Supports operations and helps workers to create long-term career plans within the organization.

 

You will be responsible for:

 

  • Analyse team/departmental training needs, develop training objectives and determine the best suited instructional methods.
  • Identify initial training needs and cyclical refresher requirements for compliance and regulatory driven training requirements.
  • Create and deliver technical training material in line with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop multimedia visual aids and presentations.
  • Provide classroom training, demonstrations, on-the-job training, meetings, conferences, and workshops.
  • Ensure learning content/activities are built using adult learning concepts and utilisation of most efficient / effective delivery.
  • Develop, deliver on-the-job training and assessments, and conduct final validation assessments for a broad range of disciplines.
  • Evaluate student’s progress and assist with problems regarding specific tasks to facilitate in-depth upskilling.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of training methods and procedures and make improvements as necessary.
  • Produce reports, analysis, and evaluations in support of the site learning and development program.
  • Participate in team projects and continuous improvement activities that enhance learning process, safety and cost reduction.
  • Build solid cross-functional relationships.

 

Minimum Qualification:

Relevant Diploma or Engineering degree.

 

Minimum Experience:

  • 13+ years in Training & Development, Talent Advising, and Technical Training roles.
  • Relevant technical/functional experience within a complex manufacturing environment required.
  • Relevant technical/functional experience within the Smelter sector or related industry preferred.

 

Required Skills:

  • Experience in training and teaching in a classroom or business environment.
  • Proven experience in writing operating procedures, work instructions and training material development.
  • Able to provide training of a technical nature to a diverse workforce.
  • Must be fluent or near fluent in English.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, ability to engage and influence at a team level.
  • Strong interpersonal and team working skill.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
