Specialist III, Metallurgy Job

Work Location:  KSA > Jizan

 

Advanced smelting Industries Co. (ASIC), which is equally owned by Tasnee.

The smelter is situated in the Jizan Economic City and is designed to smelt ilmenite (Titanium rich mineral sand) to produce Titania Dioxide slag and pig iron. The plant consists of two Electric Arc furnaces, each with a capacity of 250kt slag and 125kt pig iron. The slag that is produced is tapped from the furnace and processed to be used as feed stock for the titanium chlorination and sulphuric acid processes to finally produce Titanium pigment which is mainly used in paints and plastics.

 

 

An exciting opportunity is available in Slagger Company for Specialist II, Metallurgy Based in Jizan.

 

About the role:

 

To provide daily technical and operational support within the smelter production environment as well as short term technical improvement of plant and process based on well-developed knowledge of engineering standards and practices.

 

You will be responsible to:

 

  • Monitor operations and report on production and metallurgical processes.
  • Monitor quality performance of metallurgical processes.
  • Assist production team with trouble shooting.
  • Technical fault finding to resolve plant operational issues.
  • Conduct RCA to resolve substandard operating conditions.
  • Conduct projects to improve operational performance as per MOC procedure.
  • Conduct production reconciliation and metallurgical accounting.
  • Reconcile raw material stock levels to verify consumption and cost.
  • Analyze final product quality and raise non-conformances when required.
  • Maintain and improve safety and quality standards (ISO 9001, 14000, 18001).
  • Improve and maintain cross functional customer relationships.
  • Actively participate in incident investigations and ensure timeous close out.
  • Actively participate in all required meetings pertaining to the operations as required.
  • Conduct standby duty and work shifts as required.
  • Provide guidance and support to help more junior team members.

About You:

Minimum Qualification:

  • Metallurgical / Chemical Engineering Degree or Diploma

Minimum Experience:

  • 3 - 5 years of experience with Degree or 5 - 7 years of experience with Diploma in a smelter production environment / heavy industrial production environment.

Required Skills:

  • Experience in a smelter production environment
  • Experience in technical fault finding to resolve plant operational issues.
  • Experience in projects to improve operational performance.
  • Experience in operational monitoring and reporting on production and metallurgical processes.
  • Experience in monitoring of quality performance of metallurgical processes
  • Experience in production reconciliation and metallurgical accounting
  • Able to assist production team with trouble shooting.
  • Able to conduct investigations to resolve technical plant issues.
  • Able to initiate plant and short-term process improvements to improve production.
  • Able to work with a diverse team of technical and non-technical people.
  • Able to teach others in technical and operational aspects.
  • Need to have excellent analytical skills, paying attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and team working skills.
  • Must be effective and self-motivated.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Highly computer literate and well experienced in Microsoft Office.
  • Exceptional technical report writing skills.
