An exciting opportunity is available for GM, Sponge Site Based in Yanbu and will report directly to EVP - SBU Metallurgy.
About the role:
Responsible to manage and lead all plant activities related to Production, Technical, Project Management, Maintenance, EHSS, IT, and finance for the Sponge Site in Yanbu. Moreover, he is accountable to ensure the plant is running incompliance with Quality, Safety, Health, and Environmental Standards.
Moreover, to oversee the manufacturing process and contribute with all related functions to achieve the business goals and objectives by meeting the required productivity and cost improvements.
Ensure compliance with High Commission of Industrial Security and Royal Commission rules and regulations for a plant being at Yanbu Industrial Area.
You will be responsible to:
- Drive strategic initiatives focused on reducing operating costs whilst achieving optimum performance.
- Control and manage the sites production process within statutory, corporate and Site safety requirements.
- Develop a strong safety culture, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and regulatory standards across all departments. Accountable for fostering a zero-incident environment, proactively identifying, and mitigating potential risks to employee health and plant safety.
- Ensure full compliance with environmental, safety, and industrial regulations, including adherence to High Commission of Industrial Security and Royal Commission rules. This involves regular audits, documentation, and swift action on any compliance-related issues.
- Manage OP process by developing short-, mid-, and long-term plans, optimizing demand and supply balance.
- Oversee production activities, implementing best practices to maximize uptime, improve productivity, and achieve cost efficiency. The role demands a commitment to continuous improvement in all areas, including production processes, maintenance, and resource allocation.
- Ensure all Sponge personnel are trained, supervised, motivated, and developed to meet the on-going needs of the business.
- Ensure accidents, incidents or other deviations from standards are fully investigated/reported and actions implemented promptly.
- Ensure plant availability by execution of proactive maintenance schedules and drives continuous improvements initiatives.
- Accountable for development, use and updating of operational documentation systems (SOIs, MPIs, MIs and IEIs).
Minimum Qualification:
Bachelor’s degree holder in Engineering, MBA is preferred.
Minimum Experience:
- Minimum 15 years of experience including 12 years of managerial role.
- Proven Experience in same field of metallurgy is preferable.
Required Skills:
- Knowledge of industry regulations, Safety standards, and environment compliance in metal sector.
- Strong understanding of business operations, including finance.
- Fluency in English, and knowledge of Japanese is an advantage.
